Now, that commitment has been independently validated. 

We’re proud to announce that Rentalscape is officially SOC 2 Type 1 compliant, following a rigorous audit by AssuranceLab. This accreditation affirms what our customers have long trusted: that our systems are secure, reliable, and built to protect sensitive municipal data. 

What this means for our customers 

SOC 2 is a widely respected compliance framework designed to evaluate how companies manage customer data based on five “trust service principles”: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. 

Type 1 certification focuses on design—confirming that the right internal controls and safeguards are in place. For our customers, especially in the public sector, this provides a level of assurance that is increasingly required in procurement processes and data governance policies. 

It validates that Rentalscape doesn’t just support STR compliance, permitting, and tax collection—it does so with infrastructure designed to meet industry-leading security benchmarks. As one of the top GovTech companies supporting over 400 jurisdictions worldwide, we know how important that is. 

Not new, but newly certified 

While this accreditation is a milestone, the security measures behind it are not new to us. 

Our systems have always been built with robust security in mind: 

• Hosted on AWS with automatic daily refreshes for patched infrastructure 
  
• Encrypted data storage with schema-level segregation for each jurisdiction 
• Partnered exclusively with PCI compliant payment processors 

• Integrated with secure document storage via Digify (ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA-compliant) 

• Continuous monitoring, 2FA, disaster recovery, and real-time system auditing 

SOC 2 Type 1 simply formalizes what our clients have experienced since day one: a trusted, secure platform that strengthens local oversight and compliance.
